CAIRO, Ill. -- Graveside service for the Rev. J. Melton Wienecke of Kansas City, Mo., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski, with the Rev. Jon Althoff officiating.
Crain Funeral Home at Ullin is in charge of arrangements.
Wienecke, 74, died Tuesday, June 4, 1996, at Research Hospital in Kansas City.
He was born Aug. 15, 1921, in Cairo, son of John Henry and Stella Kain Wienecke. He and Jeannette Eastwood were married in 1941.
Wienecke was ordained a minister in the Church of the Nazarene in 1953. He pastored in Kentucky and North Carolina 15 years, and served in the editorial department of the church's international headquarters from 1967 until retiring in 1986. He was a Bible teacher at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene 50 years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stephen Wienecke of Kansas City; three daughters, Linnea Holton of Kansas City, Sharon Hinsley and Judy Doerr of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
