The Rev. Lindsay George "Den" Sample, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at his home.
He was born March 27, 1931, at Lutesville, Mo., son of Leonard and Lola Mungle Sample. He and Barbara Hill were married Nov. 29, 1950, in Cape Girardeau.
Lindsay grew up in Cape Girardeau. He worked 14 years at Brune and Eaker Service Station, seven years at Harris Motor Co. and at Cape GMC Pontiac until his health began to fail two years ago. He was a Pentecostal minister 35 years and was a member of Church On the Rock in Sikeston, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Carla Sample and Lindsay and Tina Sample of Cape Girardeau; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Gary Borgfield of Cape Girardeau, Rose and Woody Graham of McClure, Ill., a daughter, Donna Heck, daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Pledger and Debbie and Jeff Rose, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Doyle Sample of Cape Girardeau; and mother-in-law, Juanita Hill of Cape Girardeau.
Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, Johnny, Brian, Brigid, Michael Sample; Brandy Borgfield; Earl, Joe, Tiffany Heck; Sabrina and Lindsay Pledger; Jessica and Brittany Rose; Dwayne and Jessica Graham; Becky and David Parris; Christina Graham, Mark and Alicia Lincoln; and five great-grandchildren, Daniel Parris, Trent Graham, Hunter Sample, Haley Lincoln and Danelle Graham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Curtis True officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
