PATTON, Mo. -- The Rev. Kirby Grindstaff, 64, of Patton passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born Jan. 24, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, to Loyd Edward and Mary Iva Jean Kiefer Grindstaff. He and Dolores Forbeck were married Nov. 30, 1968...

PATTON, Mo. -- The Rev. Kirby Grindstaff, 64, of Patton passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

He was born Jan. 24, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, to Loyd Edward and Mary Iva Jean Kiefer Grindstaff. He and Dolores Forbeck were married Nov. 30, 1968.

Kirby served as pastor 17 years at Liberty Congregational Methodist Church, and most recently as pastor at the Cottage of Grace General Baptist Church. He also was serving as chairman of the Congregational Methodist Missouri Annual Conference, and was a member of Haynes Chapel Congregational Methodist Church.

He worked at General Motors until retiring in 1998, and was a farmer all his life.

Kirby served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores of Patton; a son, Jeff (Michelle) Grindstaff of Sedgewickville, Missouri; a daughter, Stacy (Chad) Dalton of Patton; his mother, Jean Grindstaff of Sedgewickville; a sister, Jeanine (Eric) Meyer of Troy, Missouri; and five grandchildren, Emily Dalton, Trenton Grindstaff, Jacob Dalton, Ransom Grindstaff and Blake Grindstaff.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Liberty Congregational Methodist Church, with the Revs. Jerry Sander and Scott Cook officiating. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery with full military honors.
