REV. JOHN O'CONNELL

PERRYVILLE -- Graveside service for the Rev. John Q. O'Connell of Denver, Colo., will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary of the Barrens Cemetery in Perryville.

Miller Family Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Funeral Mass was held Wednesday at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Denver.

O'Connell, 77, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, in Denver.

He was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Chicago. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Seminary in Perryville.

O'Connell was a member of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians), pastor of the Kateri Tekawitha community, presider of the televised mass for shut-ins for 25 years, pastor to the Chinese community in Denver, and member of the faculties at De Paul University and St. Thomas Theological Seminary.

Survivors include a sister, Adelyn Leander.
