TAMMS, Ill. -- Funeral service for the Rev. Joe Lentz of Tamms, Ill. will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Tamms Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in the Alto Pass, Ill. Cemetery.
Mr. Lentz died Monday at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was 69.
He was born Nov. 15, 1921 at Tamms, the son of Joseph Henry and Cecile Clara Bell Gaskill Lentz. On March 27, 1945, he married the former Violet Wilma Ackley at Elco, Ill. She preceded him in death July 29, 1984.
He was a pastor for more than 40 years at the Tamms Penetecostal Church and also was a farmer.
Mr. Lentz was a member of the Full Gospel Ministers Association in Paducah, Ky.; a fomer school board member for the Egyptian School District near Tamms; a former board member of the Agriculture Statistical and Conservcation Service in Tamms, and the Pulaski-Alexander Counties Farm Bureau. He also served on the Elco Pentecostal Camp Board.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cythia Kay Lentz, in 1950.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Orsburn Robertson of Tamms, Joyce Huff of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Joanne Allen of Virginia Beach, Va.; four brothers, Geraldz Lentz of Ullin, Ill., Kenneth Lentz of Mounds, Ill., Luther Lentz of Bridgeton, and Mark Lentz of Elgin, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Tamms Pentecostal Church. Jones Funeral Home in Tamms is in charge of the arrangements.
