WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- The Rev. George Pitts, 81, of Wolf Lake died Friday, Sept. 8, 1995, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1914, in Union County, son of William and Della Thomas Pitts. He married Freda Wilson in Anna on June 26, 1932. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1977. He married Anna Walton in Cape Girardeau on Jan. 19, 1980. She survives...

WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- The Rev. George Pitts, 81, of Wolf Lake died Friday, Sept. 8, 1995, at his residence.

He was born June 4, 1914, in Union County, son of William and Della Thomas Pitts.

He married Freda Wilson in Anna on June 26, 1932. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1977. He married Anna Walton in Cape Girardeau on Jan. 19, 1980. She survives.

He was founder and pastor of the Gospel of the Kingdom Church near Jonesboro. He was trustee of Shepherdville Campground. He was a minister 41 years, retiring in March.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Pitts of Lick Creek, Ill., and Wayne Pitts of Wolf Lake; two daughters, Vernita Abney of Putnam, Okla., and Carleen Cain of Tuscola; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Hileman and Parr Funeral Services chapel in Jonesboro.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Revs. Alfred Daves, Bobby Mouser and Bon Reynolds officiating.
