MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The Rev. Floyd Grindstaff, 84, of Marble Hill died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 21, 1922, at Scopus, Mo., son of Warren and Vallie Mayfield Grindstaff. He and Bonnie Jean Reutzel were married Dec. 16, 1941.

Grindstaff was ordained April 28, 1951, in the Old Liberty Presbytery. He pastored several General Baptist churches in the area, and was a member and former pastor of Lutesville General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Floyce Irvin and Jane Laxton of Farmington, Mo., Paulette Jackson of Marble Hill; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to service time at Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Jimmie Fulbright, Steven Sander and Clifton Trentham officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Church Cemetery.
