The Rev. Edward Henry Peter Zacharias, 84, of Marysville, Ohio, died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Union County in Marysville following an extended illness.
He was born June 28, 1922, in Marysville, son of Henry and Matilda Weber Zacharias. He and Mary Ruth Bok were married April 11, 1958, in Sherwood, Ohio.
Zacharias attended Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, and was a 1956 graduate of Concordia Seminary in Springfield, Ill.
He was a retired pastor of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, serving parishes in Oklahoma, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and at Scott City. Prior to the ministry he was a barber. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marysville, and was an Eagle Scout.
Zacharias was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard Mechler of Ballwin, Mo., John Zacharias of Marysville, the Rev. Eric Zacharias of Cologne, Minn., Alan Zacharias of Winfield, Ill.; two daughters, Ruth Ann Crutcher of Ballwin, Sharon Pender of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Anna Zacharias of Marysville; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
The funeral was Thursday at St. John's Church in Marysville, with burial in the church cemetery.
Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville was in charge of arrangements.
