CHAFFEE, Mo. -- The Rev. Donald Reed Osborne, 68, of Chaffee passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2015, at SoutheastHEALTH in Cape Girardeau.
Donald was born in Independence, Virginia, on July 10, 1947, to the late Lester Reed and Ella Mae Mullins Osborne. He married Phyllis Perren on Aug. 26, 1967. She survives.
He was a minister and member of the Living Word Tabernacle in Gibson, Missouri.
Donald answered the call to become a minister at a very early age, and it was during a weekend church service he met his bride and they married six weeks later. Love at first sight is real, and their 48 year romance proves it. He and his talented wife traveled the country preaching and singing. Don made several trips to the mission field, taking Bibles and shoes and ministering to the people. He had a big heart full of love, and we can't wait to see him again.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, of the home; two sons, David (Lisa) Osborne and Jeremy (Neely) Osborne, both of Stanley, North Carolina; one daughter, Regina (Ed) Moore of Fruitland; five brothers, J.D. Osborne of North Carolina, Horton Osborne of Cleveland, Larry Osborne of Florida, William Osborne of Cleveland and Tommy Osborne of Cleveland; one sister, Wilma Hampton of North Royalton, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Jimmy (Tammy) Perren of Batesville, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Debbie (Ron) Hart of Troy, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Donald also was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee and from 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the Church of God in Chaffee.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Howard Carroll assisted by the Rev. Don Leggett officiating. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
