Funeral service for the Rev. Clarence E. Garner of Pleasant View, Tenn., was held Tuesday at Madison Funeral Home in Madison, Tenn. The Rev. Harvey Meeks officiated, with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Madison.
Garner, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1993, at Belcort Terrace Nursing Home in Nashville, Tenn.
He was born March 18, 1912, near Marble Hill, son of John and Della Masters Garner. He first married Lillian Collins, who preceded him in death.
Garner had been an Assembly of God pastor more than 56 years, having pastored churches in Missouri and Tennessee.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; two sons, Donald Garner of Dixon, Tenn., Kenneth Garner of Madison; two daughters, Virginia Cole of Virginia Beach, Va., Clarilyn Turner of Macon, Ga.; two sisters, Thelma Richards of Advance, Velma Lee of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Vernice Garner of Advance; three stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
