MARBLE HILL -- Retta M. Reed, 86, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 15, 1912, near Glen Allen, daughter of Joseph L. and Hattie V. Johnson Rhodes. She and Burette Sample were married Oct. 20, 1936. He died Oct. 21, 1956. She later married Henry Jack Reed Nov. 10, 1973. He died Dec. 12, 1979...

MARBLE HILL -- Retta M. Reed, 86, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 15, 1912, near Glen Allen, daughter of Joseph L. and Hattie V. Johnson Rhodes. She and Burette Sample were married Oct. 20, 1936. He died Oct. 21, 1956. She later married Henry Jack Reed Nov. 10, 1973. He died Dec. 12, 1979.

Reed had been a public school teacher, and retired as a dispatcher from Illinois Power Co. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Gravelton.

Survivors include a brother, Joseph Rhodes of Marble Hill, and a sister, Ethel McKinley of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Rick Pettey officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
