Resa Ervin

Resa Lynn Ervin, 69, of Jackson passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center, after a yearlong battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 28, 1953, in Fulton, Kentucky, to James H. and Martha "Lucille" Bennett. Resa's family moved to Cape Girardeau when she was 3. She lived in Cape Girardeau until she married Alan W. Ervin on April 5, 1970. Alan and Resa lived a full life of travel due to Alan's 24 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, which took them to Arizona, Italy, Texas, Oklahoma, back to Texas, then Holland, Florida and full circle back to Cape Girardeau in 1998.

Over the years, Resa was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. When she worked, she was in retail sales. She was devout in her faith and served Bethany Baptist Church as a member, also teaching Sunday school for children and adults, A.W.A.N.A. and vacation Bible school for 10-plus years. She loved her God and family.

Resa is survived by her husband, Alan W. Ervin; her two daughters, Michelle D. Edgell and Rebecca A. Holter; and two grandchildren, Jacob P. Holter and Hayden R. Edgell.

Resa was preceded in death by her father, James H. Bennett; mother, Martha "Lucille" Bennett; grandfather, Jesse C. Pickard; and sons-in-law, Joseph M. Edgell and David M. Holter.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Shawn Wasson officiating.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Bethany Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
