Renee Amos, 65, of Jackson passed away Friday, June 17, 2022, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, with family by her side, and after a short battle with metastatic melanoma.
She was born Nov. 18, 1956, in Cape Girardeau to Rudolph Charles "R.C." and Ruth Ann Eifert Kasten. She and John R. Amos were married June 30, 1978, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. Two children were born to their union, Michelle and Christopher.
Renee was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where she was baptized and confirmed. She served on many boards and committees and played the handbells.
She was a 1971 graduate of St. Paul Lutheran School and a 1975 graduate of Jackson High School. In 1978, she received her degree as a registered nurse from Lutheran Medical Center School of Nursing in St. Louis.
Renee worked at Saint Francis Medical Center from 1978 to 1990. Thereafter, she worked for Kies Eye Center, Eye Consultants Inc. and Eye Care Specialists LLC, retiring in 2021.
In her year of retirement, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to softball games, camping, and constantly working outside.
Loving survivors include her husband of nearly 44 years, John Amos; children, Michelle (Randy) Dees and Christopher (Halie) Amos; and four grandchildren, Jolee, Ellie and Kinley Dees and Aubrey Amos, all of Jackson; a sister, Debra Kasten of St. Louis; and a sister-in-law, Susann Amos of Jackson.
Renee was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Randy Kasten.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
The Rev. Joshua Schmidt will conduct the funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
