Rebecca Edna Walker, 88, of Scott City died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 27, 1916, in the Dogwood community near East Prairie, Mo., to the late Albert Gibson Derrington and Sarah Annie Huffman Alsup Bishop Derrington. She was raised in the Dogwood community and graduated from East Prairie High School in 1934. She had spent most of the last 50 years in Ancell/Scott City. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau and recently had attended the Broadway United Methodist Church close to her home.

She married Earl Walker in Bollinger County on July 27, 1935.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 69 years are three daughters and three sons-in-law, Dorothy Sue and Cleatus Raines of Tucson, Ariz., Peggy and Don Gross of Scott City, and Sharon and David Hohler of Cape Girardeau; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Kimberly and Nick Greer of Mankato, Minn., and Kerri Doyle of Wylie, Texas; two grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Greg and Kim Gross of Scott City, and Dr. Jeffrey and Linda Raines of Coon Rapids, Minn.; two great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter-in-law, Michael and Kandi Gross and Keith Gross of Scott City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bill Burke, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene of Cape Girardeau, will officiate. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
