COBDEN, Ill. -- Raymond E. Tweedy, 95, of Cobden died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.
He was born Nov. 16, 1905, in Huey, Ill., son of Dr. James R. and Jessie Cover Tweedy. He and Frances Anderson were married Aug. 28, 1929, in West Frankfort, Ill. She died Nov. 4, 1979.
Tweedy was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. He retired as an electrician with Commonwealth Edison Co. He was a member of Cobden Masonic Lodge 466 AF&AM, and member and deacon at First Baptist Church.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include friends Bobby and Glenda Myers of Cobden.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden from 5-8 p.m. Sunday. Masonic rites will be conducted by Lodge 466 at 7.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Dr. Daryl Varble officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
