Raymond Schnurbusch
PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Raymond F. "Bob" Schnurbusch, 83, of Perryville died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, with his family at his side after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's disease at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 8, 1925, at Old Appleton, son of Joseph F. and Helen E. Ponder Schnurbusch. He and Anna M. Sauer were married May 20, 1950, at Perryville. She survives. The couple was married 58 years.
Schnurbusch was a wholesale egg distributor. Bob, "The Eggman," was owner and operator of Schnurbusch Egg Co. until his retirement. Schnurbusch loved auctioneering and was known as "The Ole Dutchman."
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville and past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, Mo.. Schnurbusch was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Marine Corp. League, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Council 1263, VFW Post 4282 and American Legion Post 133. Schnurbusch was an avid triathlete, table tennis player, horseman, senior olympian, card player, hunter and most of all, a Cardinals baseball fan. He was the founder of the Old Appleton Triathlon.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Walter) Kutz, Lori (Terry) Carroll, both of Perryville, Kristi (Bobby) Jansen of Leopold, Mo.; four sons, Michael (Bonnie) Schnurbush, Jeff (Melinda) Schnurbusch, both of Perryville, Tim (Michelle) Schnurbusch of Eureka, Mo., Craig (Ann) Schnurbusch of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Bill Schnurbusch of St. Louis, Ruben "Rip" Schnurbusch of Old Appleton; three sisters, Bertha Unterreiner of Cape Girardeau, Laura Unterreiner of Rolla, Mo., Betty Rellergert of St. Louis; 25 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Oscar, Herb, Rudy "Fox," Clarence, Albert and Jim Schnurbusch.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Young and Sons Chapel. A Knights of Columbus wake will be held Monday evening.
Visitation continues from 9 to 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Apple Creek. Mass is at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Apple Creek, with military graveside rites provided by the Marine Corps League.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, Southeast Hospice, St. Vincent Education Foundation or St. Vincent Centennial Endowment Fund.
