PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Raymond A. Sauer, 83, of Perryville died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Raymond A. Sauer, 83, of Perryville died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.

He was born July 15, 1928, in Apple Creek, Mo., son of August Joseph and Clara Zoellner Sauer. He and Evelyn Elizabeth Schumer were married Aug. 25, 1951. She survives in Perryville.

Mr. Sauer had worked for 15 years as a salesclerk for Buchheit. He had been a farmer all his life and was retired from commercial carpentry.

Other survivors include three sons and a daughter, Rick Sauer of Cape Girardeau, Ellen (Paul) Koeper of Jackson, Jim (Mary) Sauer and Mike (Debbie) Sauer, all of Perryville; nine grandchildren, Chris, Andrea and Natalie Koeper, Jessica (Jesse) Sostillio, Stephen and Gabe Sauer, Jenni (Jeremy) Williams, Travis Sauer and Corey Sauer; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marion and Elliott Sauer; and three sisters, Wilma Unterreiner, Trula Wibbenmeyer and Lillian Sauer.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. today, with parish wake at 7 p.m., and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, with rosary at 8 a.m., at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. He will be taken to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery in Apple Creek.

Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Vincent schools.
