Raymond Ruth

Raymond Thomas Ruth, 84, of Scott City, died Saturday Nov. 22, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 8, 1924, in Owen County, Ky., the son of Roy Lee and Sennie B. Roberts Ruth. He and Treva Marjorie Terry were married Sept. 18, 1948, at Irondale, Mo.

Raymond was a truck driver for Wetterau Inc. until his retirement in 1980. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Assembly of God church.

Survivors include a son, Mike (Betty) Ruth of Scott City; a daughter, Debbie Ruth of Scott City; a daughter-in-law, Belva Ruth of Scott City; two brothers, Carl and Tommy Ruth, both of Georgetown, Ky.; four grandchildren, John (Lisa) Ruth; Cindy (Mike) Brown; Holly (Matt) Marret; and Joseph (Kristen) Ruth; his "pride and joys," his six great-grandchildren: Brianna, Hallie and Ryan Ruth; Braden and Cody Brown; and Bryce Ruth.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Treva, on Dec. 10, 1996, his son Allen in April; his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel, with the Revs. Luther Rhodes and Joey Ruth officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
