Raymond Rampley

JACKSON, Mo. -- Raymond Lee Rampley, 69, of Jackson passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at his home.

He was born July 3, 1932, in Bell City, Mo., son of L.E. and Verbie Mooris Rampley. He and Betty Sue Eakin were married June 8, 1956.

Raymond was a 1952 graduate of Bell City High School. He was in the U.S. Army from 1952-54, serving in Korea.

He was a member and past master of Excelsior Lodge 441 and member and past patron of Chapter 91 Order of Eastern Star, both in Jackson. He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 and Jackson VFW. He was currently serving on the SEMO District Fair Board and Cape County Farm Bureau Board.

Raymond formerly served on the Byrd Township Road District, president of Cape County Farm Bureau, Co-op board member, Jackson R-2 School Board and board member of Country Club Western Dancers. He had also been a volunteer at Missouri Veterans Home.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Stephen Kelly Rampley of Patton, Mo., Michael Keith and Mayumi Rampley of Jackson, Kevin and Leigh Rampley of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tom Hecht of Jackson.

Also surviving are five brothers, Charles Rampley of Virginia, H. Joe Rampley of Bloomfield, Mo., Jim Rampley of Bell City, Carl Rampley of Sikeston, Mo., Leonard Rampley of Bell City; a sister, Helen Winfrey of Bell City; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Cheney officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery, with graveside service by Missouri Honor Guard.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson or Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown, Mo.
