Raymond E. Myers, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Hannibal, Mo., died at Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Hannibal to Raymond W. and Ola Mae (Blacketter) Myers. He married Eugenia Warren on Oct. 5, 1946. They have enjoyed 62 years together...

Raymond E. Myers, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Hannibal, Mo., died at Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Hannibal to Raymond W. and Ola Mae (Blacketter) Myers. He married Eugenia Warren on Oct. 5, 1946. They have enjoyed 62 years together.

He attended First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1944 to 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He worked for the International Shoe Co. in Hannibal and Perryville, Mo. He retired from Foamex in Cape Girardeau in 1988. He was active in church basketball and was an avid Cardinals fan.

He is survived by his wife, Eugenia "Gene" Myers of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Ray Myers and John (Pam) Myers, both of Cape Girardeau, and Jim (Shannon) Myers of McKinney, Texas; six daughters, Lucinda Myers, Pat (Ron) Clifton, Kathryn Myers, Martha (Jim) Fellows, all of Cape Girardeau, Mary (Bob) Pollack of Skokie, Ill., and Jennie Kinder of Troy, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Amy Clifton; a brother; and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 829 N. West End Blvd., Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Dean Jaggers officiating. Military honors will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home and will be accepted at the funeral home.
