Raymond Andrew Messmer, 74, of Scott City died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at his home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Kelso, Missouri, to Ervin Frank and Sylvia Ann Heisserer Messmer. He married Kathy Moore on Jan. 1, 1970, in Benton, Missouri.
He was a truck driver for Super Value. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Cape Girardeau Eagles Aerie 3775 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by three daughters, Cindy (Darrin) Berghoff of Whitewater, Jeannie (Rusty) Underwood of Scott City and Connie Brashear of Flower Mound, Texas; son, Bill (Laura) Moore of New Wells; two grandchildren, Andrew (Shannon) Berghoff and Halie Berghoff of Jackson; a brother, Earl Messmer of Gordonville; and two sisters, Marlene Morton of Cape Girardeau and Claudine (Alvin) Sheeter of Danville, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norvel Messmer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, with the Rev. Joe Weidenbenner as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Kelso, with full military honors.
