MATTHEWS -- Raymond "Goob" Landers, 75, of Sells Rest Home in Matthews, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. MATTHEWS -- Raymond "Goob" Landers, 75, of Sells Rest Home in Matthews, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Piggott, Ark., son of Abraham and Mary Scott Landers. He married Mae West, who died April 4, 1965. He later married Burma M. Metros Sept. 22, 1972, at Diehlstadt.

Landers was a retired carpenter. He was a member and senior deacon of First Baptist Church in Canalou, and American Legion Post 114 in Sikeston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Landers of Matthews, Terry Landers of Morehouse; a daughter, Diane Hogan of Austin, Texas; three stepsons, Mike, Larry and Rich Metros of Crown Point, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Zelma Henry of Hobart, Ind.

Also surviving are four brothers, Willie Landers of Calvert City, Ky., Chuck Landers of Fairdealing, Robert Landers of Canalou, Jack Landers of Alton, Ill.; six sisters, Vernice Harr of Canalou, Tass Thrower of Cahokia, Ill., Ethel Arbuckle of Alton, Ill., Roberta Nipper of Chatham, Miss., Leatha Jones of Virginia, Helen Lowery of Wappapello; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren, and 12 great-stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Revs. Dewayne Coleman and Mike Cartwright officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
