RACINE, Wis. -- Raymond Lee Katt, 84, of Racine died Monday, April 3, 2017.
He was a celebrated family man, businessman and friend.
Ray was born March 16, 1933, in Menfro, Missouri. He and his wife, Louise, married Sept. 18, 1954, in Shawneetown, Missouri. They raised their family in Belleville, Illinois, until moving to Racine in 1982.
On Ray's 21st birthday, he was employed as an office boy at Benjamin Air Rifle Co. in St. Louis. After working for Benjamin for 30 years, he then purchased Benjamin in 1981. In 1982, Ray moved the company, along with his family, to Racine, consolidating with Sheridan Products.
A spirited storyteller and always willing to lend a helping hand, Ray was an inspiration to his offspring, possessing a jovial and personable disposition. He was loved dearly and will be remembered as a sincere dedicated family man.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; three children, David, Linda (Kevin) Nelson and Lisa (Bob) Covelli, all of Racine; his adored grandchildren, Brandon, Logan, Sarah (Ryan), Samantha (Alec), Nicole and Erika; also his precious great-grandchildren, Raelyn and Peyton; brother, Beaufort (Norma Lee) Katt; one sister, Euline (Ed) Elzemeyer; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Esther; brothers, Melvin, Oliver and Victor; and sisters, Olida and Viola.
Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home in Racine and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St. in Racine.
The funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Deacon Janice Navarro officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park.
