Raymond Lee Eifert, 76, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 6, 1930, at Illmo, Mo., son of Paul Casper Eifert and Hattie Elizabeth Bretzel. He and Shirley Rose Vaughn were married Oct. 10, 1959, at Illmo.
Eifert worked as a carpenter and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves, the U.S. Air Force Reserves and the U.S. Army. He was a city councilman of Illmo for 17 years from 1958 to 1975, mayor of Illmo from 1975 to 1978 and held all elected offices at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jay Eifert of Louisville, Ky., and Sean Eifert of Honolulu, Hawaii; and three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Eisleben Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Azinger will officiate, with burial in Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery in Scott City.
