SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Raymond E. Dover of Scott City will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. William Dickey will officiate, with burial in Lightner Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. today.
Dover, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1995, at his home.
He was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Millcreek, Ill., son of James Wesley and Edith Tully Dover. He and Verda Meisenheimer were married Aug. 1, 1935, in Jonesboro, Ill.
Dover had been a conductor and brakeman with Cotton Belt Railroad 35 years, and had owned Dover Produce and Flea Market in Scott City. He was a member of Reynoldsville Baptist Church in Reynoldsville, Ill., and United Trainmen Union.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Collin Dover of Homewood, Ala., Gary, Dallas and Eldon Dover, all of Scott City; a daughter, Mary Edith Sprenger of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, George Dover of Anna, Ill., Ralph Dover of DeSoto, Ill.; 21 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Troy Dover; two brothers and a sister.
