Raymond E. Davis, 86, of Jackson died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 3, 1918, in Marquand, Mo., son of C.N. and Elsie Killian Davis.
Raymond attended grade school at Marquand. He was inducted into the U.S. Navy Oct. 29, 1943, and was honorably discharged as a seaman first class Dec. 6, 1945.
He and his brother co-owned and operated the former Davis Brothers Painting Co. in Jackson many years.
Raymond was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Pocahontas, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, 50-year member of Excelsior Lodge 441 in Jackson, Sword of Bunker Hill, and was a past worthy patron of Eastern Star Chapter 91 in Jackson.
Survivors include a son, Alan Davis of Lincolnton, Ga.; former wife, Irene Davis of Millersville; a stepson, Terry Gamble and wife Sherry of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Donna Whitsel and husband Scott of Millersville, Roxann Finnagin and husband Pat of Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from noon to service time Thursday.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Mann officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery near Millersville, with graveside military honors.
