PATTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Ray D. Wilfong of Patton will be held at 1 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton. The Rev. Kirby Grindstaff will officiate. Burial will be in Post Oak Cemetery near Patton, with full military honors.
Wilfong, 81, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 9, 1920, at Patton, son of Henry and Sarah Killian Wilfong. He and Viola Besher were married April 25, 1942.
Wilfong retired as a painter with General Motors in St. Louis. He was a member of Post Oak Methodist Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gary and Joe Wilfong of Patton, Richard Wilfong of Cedar Hill, Mo., Chuck Wilfong of Arizona; three daughters, Jane Brotherton of Wappapello, Mo., Sharon Denton of Sedgewickville, Mo., Pam Ackman of Patton; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.
