MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Ray Wilson Showmaker, 72, of Mound City, died Tuesday, March 16, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was born March 8, 1921, in East Prairie, son of E.G. and Bertha Elder Showmaker. Showmaker was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski, and Laborers Local 773 in Cairo. MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Ray Wilson Showmaker, 72, of Mound City, died Tuesday, March 16, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born March 8, 1921, in East Prairie, son of E.G. and Bertha Elder Showmaker.

Showmaker was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski, and Laborers Local 773 in Cairo. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Martha; three sons, Alvin Showmaker of Pulaski, Gary Showmaker of Bonne Terre, Mo., Darrell Showmaker of Cairo; two daughters, Beth Showmaker and Rhonda Showmaker of Mound City; three sisters, Mae Levill of Charleston, Mo., Thelma Peters of Bertrand, Mo., Mildred Wilson of Sikeston, Mo., and three grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City. The Rev. R.L. Robinson will officiate, with burial in Mound City National Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
