COBDEN, Ill. -- Ray R. Vaughn, 78, of Cobden died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 11, 1924, in Anna, Ill., son of Charles Asbury and Minnie Jane Norris Vaughn. He and Annette L. Trees were married July 21, 1945, in Anna.
Vaughn was a wildlife biologist with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Carbondale, Ill.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a prisoner of war in World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jenifer Evans of Melbourne, Fla., Reese Kelly of Anna and Nancy Pitts of Cobden; two brothers, Stanley Vaughn of Indianapolis, Ind. and Harold Vaughn of Makanda, Ill.; two sisters, Jean Halbin and Peggy Claxton of Anna; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a brother, and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
