Ray N. Scholl, 79, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Jackson, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1937, near New Wells, son of Hugh E. and Marie A. Boren Scholl. Ray and Marlene J. Wachter were married Aug. 13, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.
He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Ray served in the U.S. Army from March 8, 1957, until being honorably discharged March 6, 1959. He farmed and was a self-employed carpenter and contractor in the Cape Girardeau County area for many years.
Survivors include three sons, Randy (Mary) Scholl, Scott Scholl and Timothy (Marty) Scholl, all of Jackson; a daughter, Stephanie (Don) Lozier of Tucson, Arizona; five grandchildren, Anthony and Tonya Scholl and Shea Scholl, and Don and Sky Lozier; a great-grandson, Zander Sterling; two sisters, Gladys Hoffman of Jackson and Lillian Schreiner of Oak Ridge; and his former wife, Marlene Scholl of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Evelyn Weinhold.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Wells, with military honors.
