PERRYVILLE -- Ray Henderson, 76, of Perryville died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 4, 1923, in Perry County, son of Jessie and Mildred Hudson Henderson. He and Elizabeth Ashley were married in November 1945. She died in March 1985. He and Vivian Martin Nelson were married Dec. 11, 1988.
Henderson had been a machinist at Valtec in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and its Men's Club, Volunteers in Mission, American Legion Post 133, and had been a volunteer at Perry County Hospital.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Henderson of Florissant; two stepdaughters, Janice Godlove of Perryville, Joan Distler of New Melle; four brothers, Madison and Bert Henderson of Wichita, Kan., Charles Henderson of Perryville, Lawrence Henderson of St. Peters; a sister, Ina Kahmke of Auxvasse; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 3-8 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 6:30-8:30 a.m. An American Legion wake will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ed Hankinson will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis
