Ray R. Davis, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 25, 1920, at Randles, Mo., son of Harrison and Grace Lape Davis. He and Corvella "Kinks" Spurlock were married Nov. 7, 1940, at Cape Girardeau.

Davis was a self-employed carpenter for over 50 years. He was a subcontractor to Southeast Lumber Co., Riverside Lumber Co. and Pocahontas Lumber Co. Davis had lived in Houston, Texas, for 12 years before moving back to Cape Girardeau in 1964.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jerry Davis of Cape Girardeau, Mike Davis of Waldorf, Md., Ralph Davis of Humble, Texas, and Jack Davis of Houston; a daughter, Bonnie Gardner of Humble; two brothers, Eldon Davis of Gordonville and Charlie Davis of Cape Girardeau; and four sisters, Gladys Howard of McClure, Ill., Dorothy Foreman of Concordia, Mo., Hazel Gross of Gordonville and Judy Wunderlick of Jackson.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating.
