RAY ANN THAYER

McBRIDE -- Ray Ann Thayer, 93, of McBride died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Perry Oaks Healthcare Center in Perryville.

She was born Oct. 29, 1904, in Perry County, daughter of Steve and Josephine Bienlein Streiler. She married Alto George Thayer on May 3, 1923. He died Nov. 30, 1969.

Thayer was a telephone switchboard operator from 1919 to 1923. She was then a homemaker for the rest of her life.

She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno and the Ladies Altar Sodality.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet Geile of St. Peters, Virginia Riney of Quincy, Ill., and Joan Bauwens of Perryville; two sisters, Verna McGirl and Frieda Colbeck, both of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno, with the Rev. Francis Agnew officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
