SIKESTON, Mo. -- Ray Alberson, 77, of Sikeston died Monday, March 28, 2005, at his home.

He was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Sikeston, son of Earl and Rose Farren Alberson. He and Marilyn Greenlee were married May 28, 1950.

Alberson retired as a mechanic with Missouri State Highway Department. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, David Alberson of Cape Girardeau, Mark and Barry Alberson of Sikeston; a daughter, Karen Pettit of Sikeston; two sisters, Geraldine McKinney of Keizer, Ore., Annette Oertli of St. Louis; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe McCullough officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
