MARBLE HILL -- Ransom Jefferson `Mann' Garland of Marble Hill died Saturday, Nov. 2, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was 71.

He was born Dec. 23, 1919, the son of the James Joseph and Lillie Myrtle Cook Garland. On march 26, 1938, he married Wilma Maedean Cook, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jerry L. Garland of marble hill and Bill R. Garland of Patton; four daughters, Betty Schmitt of St. Louis, Velda Doggett of Sedgewickville, Judy Liley and Lisa Garland, both of Marble Hill; three brothers, Lenwood Garland of Marble Hill, Hobert Garland of Sedgewickville, Junior Garland of Marble Hill; three sisters, Dorothy Cook, Gearldine Cook, and Melba Dean Cook, all of Marble Hill; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church near Marble Hill. He was a retired crew leader for the Missouri State Highway Department.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Services will be at the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jimmie Fulbright and the Rev. W.D. Snyder officiating.

Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Cemetery.
