KELSO, Mo. -- Ramona Frances Glastetter, 91, of Kelso passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 22, 1929, on the Blattel homestead east of Kelso, the daughter of Herman and Blanche Hamm Blattel.
Ramona attended St. Augustine Catholic Grade School and graduated from Fornfelt High School in 1946.
On May 7, 1949, Ramona and Sylvester Glastetter married in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. He was the love of her life. Sylvester preceded her in death Dec. 31, 2016. They were married for 67 years.
Ramona and Sylvester moved to their home in Ancell nine years before moving to their farm in 1957. Then, in 1981, they moved to Kelso. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Lady Society.
Ramona was a founding and lifetime member of the Scott County Historical and Genealogy Society, for which she did much research. She found ancestral information for people in the continental United States, Canada, Alaska and for friends in France and Germany. Ramona also donated several books to Southeast Missouri State University. Her research and genealogy touched thousands. For more than 30 years, she did research about her own family history as well as many others.
Ramona loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening with Sylvester, along with other hobbies such as cooking, embroidery, crocheting and sewing.
Loving survivors include a son, David (Denise) Glastetter of Cape Girardeau; daughters, Sharen (Ron) Parker of Cape Girardeau, Karen (Cary) Hou of Sacramento, California, and Ramona Glastetter of Jackson. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kurt David (Stephanie) Glastetter of St. Louis, Dustin Paul (Emily) Glastetter of Arnold, Missouri, Ramona Bess Bijoux of Jackson, Louise Maria (Zachary) Cellar of Fountain, Colorado, Ellen Ramona (Michael) Green of Davis, California, and Maris Elizabeth Parker of St. Louis; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a son, Cornelius Glastetter.
A private family service will be held.
