PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Ralph N. Wibbenmeyer, 92, of Perryville, formerly of Old Appleton, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at Independence Care Center in Perryville. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Ralph N. Wibbenmeyer, 92, of Perryville, formerly of Old Appleton, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.

He was born April 18, 1925, in Biehle, Missouri, son of Hugo A. and Cecilia Lappe Wibbenmeyer. He and Theresa M. Buchheit were married Feb. 5, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. Michael Knecht. She survives in Perryville.

Ralph was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, Missouri; the Apple Creek Men's Organization; Western Catholic Union; American Legion Post 133; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4282; and Knights of Columbus Council 1263.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, with most of his time being stationed at Manila in the Philippines.

He started working for Appleton Mercantile Co. in Old Appleton and was part owner for several years. Then he took up carpentry, working for Bock Construction Co. Later, he went on his own and did home improvement projects.

He attended grade school at St. Maurus in Biehle and later earned his GED.

He is survived by his wife; three children, Roger (Sheila) Wibbenmeyer, Peggy (Steve) DeWilde of Perryville and Nancy (Steve) Fenwick of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Thomas Wibbenmeyer of Peoria, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Albin and Raymond Wibbenmeyer; two sisters, Edna Wibbenmeyer and Luella Boxdorfer; and infant granddaughter, Lauren DeWilde.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 6:30 to 9:15 a.m. Saturday, with a rosary recited at 8:15, at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, with the Rev. Jim French officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and the Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek.
