Ralph H. Sitter Jr., 92, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Chateau Girardeau.
He was born April 28, 1925, in Anna, Illinois, to Ralph Harmon and Grace Barringer Sitter. He and Betty Brown were married Dec. 2, 1950, in Jennings, Missouri. She passed away in 2015.
Ralph and Betty lived the majority of their lives in St. Louis, where he worked as an industrial engineer for International Shoe Co.
They moved to Cape Girardeau 10 years ago and became members of First Presbyterian Church. In the short time they were here, Ralph and Betty were embraced by their church home and the community, forming many special relationships.
Ralph was quite the storyteller, as well as a fisherman, bridge player and devoted Cardinals baseball fan. He remained active and still was playing golf at age 92. Ralph was a loving husband, which was demonstrated by the way he cared for Betty while she suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan (William) Leming of Cape Girardeau; son, Steven (Debbie) Sitter of St. Louis; grandchildren, Abigail (Jeffrey) Kohlberg, April Sitter and Sara (Andrew) Swartz; and great-grandchildren, Emerson Ann Kohlberg, Isla Beth Kohlberg and Ava Rose Swartz.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary Francis Hesse and Grace Gould.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Terry Epling officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
