SCOTT CITY -- Ralph Miller, 81, of Scott City, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 25, 1914, at Fornfelt, son of Erskine and Edna Proffer Miller. He and Naomi Keesee were married March 28, 1934, in Jonesboro, Ill.
Miller went to work in the roundhouse of Cotton Belt Railroad in 1937, became fireman of engines in 1941, was promoted to engineer in 1943, and in 1952 became road foreman of engines. He retired May 30, 1978, after 41 years of service.
He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City, H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 in Cape Girardeau, served on the former Fornfelt School Board, and was a former treasurer of Scott City.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry Miller of Pine Bluff, Ark., Gary Miller of Denver, Colo., Dr. Paul Miller of Quincy, Ill.; a daughter, Selena Hartle of Scott City; two brothers, Francis Miller of Altenburg, Marvin Miller of Eldon; four sisters, Janice Starnes of Harrisburg, Ill., Mary Palmer of Cape Girardeau, Genevia Godwin of Moline, Ill., Christine McGhee of Scott City; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 3 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Revs. Jim King and Vester Keesee officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery at Scott City.
