Ralph E. Johnson Jr., 69, of Streator, Ill., died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
He was born Sept. 25, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, son of Ralph E. and Irene Abernathy Johnson. He first married Barbara Hicks Dec. 10, 1954. He and Inez Jones were married June 5, 1976.
Johnson was a graduate of the former John S. Cobb High School. He moved to the Streator area in the 1950s.
He had worked with the Department of Corrections, was a concrete finisher, and retired from Libbey Owens Ford Co.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Black of Streator, Ralph Johnson III of Joliet, Ill.; 12 daughters, Dorothy Black, Adrena Phillips and Octavia Webb, all of Streator, Kathy Black, Toni Black, Diane Holofchak, Willie Webb, all of Kokomo, Ind., Kimberly Johnson of Southfield, Mich., Brenda Mushimba of Atlanta, Ga., Rhonda Warner of Andros Island, Bahamas, Debra Jones of Carbondale, Ill., LaShawn Lance of Chicago; two brothers, Benny Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Walter Johnson of Holly Grove, Ark.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers.
Friends may call at Solon, Baker and Telford Funeral Home in Streator from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rufus Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery at Streator, with military rites by Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
