PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- H. Quentin Klaus, 77, of Perryville died Friday, July 9, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Sept. 24, 1926, at Old Appleton, Mo., son of Herbert and Hedwig Frentzel Klaus. He and Mabel Bingenheimer were married April 15, 1951.
Klaus was a retired jeweler and owner of Klaus Jewelers in Perryville and Ste. Genevieve, Mo., from April 1, 1952, to April 1, 1982.
Klaus was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, men's choir and mixed choir; a World War II Army veteran; Perry County Saddle Club, Saxony Hills Community Band, VFW Post 4282 and American Legion Post 133, past commander.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly LeMaster of Collinsville, Ill.; a half brother, Dean Hecht of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Brein, Cara, Derek LeMaster, all of Collinsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles H. Klaus; three sisters, Mildred Ruesler, Evelyn Soehlig, Shirley Lardizabel; two brothers, Lloyd Klaus and Calvin Klaus.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today or Monday from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. VFW wake will be at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside provided by the American Legion Post 133; the Rev. Matthew Marks will officiate.
Memorial preference is the Frentzel Haus, Immanuel Lutheran Church or School.
