MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Polly Jo McCormick, 52, of Marble Hill passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at her home. Born on March 28, 1964, in Cape Girardeau, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Joann Hansen Shrum. MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Polly Jo McCormick, 52, of Marble Hill passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at her home.

Born on March 28, 1964, in Cape Girardeau, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Joann Hansen Shrum.

A 1982 graduate of Woodland High School, she continued her education at Southeast Missouri State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice and psychology in 1986.

On Nov. 22, 1986, she married Steven Bradley McCormick. He survives.

Polly was an active member of the Marble Hill United Methodist Church and loved her church family. She was a strong Christian and thoroughly enjoyed teaching her Sunday school class.

She loved being outside and working in her garden and flower beds. Polly especially loved spending time with her sisters and taking trips in their hippie van.

She enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking family vacations. Polly would want everyone to celebrate her life every day.

She is survived by her high-school sweetheart and husband of 29 years, Brad McCormick; a daughter, Kaitlin Marie McCormick of St. Louis; her parents, Kenneth and Joann Shrum of Marble Hill; siblings, Gary (Pat) Shrum and Renee Cook, both of Marble Hill, and Katie Shrum of Glenallen, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Marble Hill United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Revs. Michael Hargraves and Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
