EAST PRAIRIE -- P.L. Carlyle, 68, of East Prairie died Friday, June 28, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston due to an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Millageville, Tenn., the son of Pleasant L. and Hester E. Wyatt Carlyle. On Oct. 1, 1949, in Wyatt, he married Bonnie L. Weems.
Carlyle lived most of his life in Mississippi County where he was a retired heavy equipment operator and member of the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Bobby Carlyle of Cape Girardeau, Scott Carlyle of Imperial and Phillip, Allen and Marty Carlyle, all of East Prairie; three daughters, Connie Crocker, Bonita Patrick and June Allen, all of East Prairie; four sisters, Betty Vaught and Pat Mays, both of Sikeston, Martha Williams of Belleville, Ill., and Julie Weems of East Prairie; a half-sister, Myrtle McGarrity of St. Louis; 23 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, sister, half-brother and two half-sisters.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Mike Johnson and Burl Britt officiating. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
