BLOOMFIELD -- Pierce Burton, 89, of Bloomfield died Friday, Dec. 1, 1995, at Bloomfield Nursing Center.

He was born Jan. 10, 1906, in Johnson County, Ark., son of John and Sarah Whitley Burton.

Burton, formerly of Sikeston, had been a resident of Bloomfield since 1972.

He married Muriel Carter March 26, 1926. She preceded him in death Oct. 15, 1994.

Survivors are sons, Pierce Burton Jr. of Dexter and Harold Burton of Piedmont; daughters, Jewell Cox of Bernie and Pauline Pixley of Delta; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston with the Rev. Orville Edmonds of Bernie officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield after 11 a.m. Monday.
