Phyllis Ann Seabaugh, 90, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 9, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of George and Gertrude Pierce Schwartz. She married Jerry Lee Seabaugh on Aug. 20, 1949.
Phyllis graduated from St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau. A few short years after, she and Jerry married, they moved to Jackson where they raised their family and became avid supporters of the Jackson Indians sports programs. She and Jerry had been season ticket holders for the Jackson Indians football team for nearly 50 years.
Phyllis worked for Tucker Trucking, Libson Shops and Lambert's Fabrics in Cape Girardeau. She and Belle Litzelfelner owned and operated Primrose Lane, a bridal shop in Jackson. She then started a 25-year career as an interior decorator with Cracraft-Miller Furniture Store in Jackson. Decorating was one of the many natural talents Phyllis possessed. She was a member of the Jackson Heritage Association and assisted with the decorating of the Oliver House. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and for many years she led a committee of volunteers to decorate the church for special events and holidays.
Family and friends will remember her for her skill as a seamstress. She made many of her children's clothing, especially their Sunday clothes, and she designed all her daughters' wedding gowns. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining, and having family over for meals every Sunday afternoon.
