Phyllis Lemons

ZALMA, Mo. -- Phyllis Ann Lemons, 70, of Zalma died Thursday, May 28, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 14, 1949, in Cairo, Illinois, to Wayne Wallace and Arlene Hartline Garrott. She and Ivan Lemons Sr. were married July 21, 1996, at Gipsy, Missouri.

She worked at Thorngate Ltd. for more than 20 years, and she also worked at Rubbermaid and McDonald's.

She liked to sing and loved cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was the most caring, thoughtful and hardworking person.

She attended Berrong General Baptist Church in Gipsy.

Survivors include her husband, Ivan Lemons Sr. of Zalma; daughters, Vicky (Shawn) Beck of Barnhart, Missouri, Kelly Rose of Millstadt, Illinois, and Regina (Donnie) Smith of Jackson; sons, Scott Rose of Barnhart, Joseph Sitzes of Cape Girardeau and Ivan (Mindy) Lemons Jr. of Cape Girardeau; sister, Carol Rose of Jackson; brother, Cletus Garrott of Moberly, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several brothers- and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Erin Rose.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Service will follow at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Lemons officiating.

Ford and Sons recommends that everyone attending the visitation and service wear a mask, practice social distancing and extend condolences through non-physical contact.

Burial will be at St. Johns Cemetery in Dongola, Illinois.
