Phyllis C. Jackson, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Chaffee, Mo., to George Franklin and Grace B. Pryor Griffin. She and Charles E. Jackson were married April 28, 1956, at Chaffee. He died June 7, 2000.

Phyllis was an administrative assistant at the Cape Girardeau Public Library 35 years, retiring Jan. 30, 2005. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary and Eagles Aerie 3775 Auxiliary. Her favorite thing to do was traveling with family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy A. (Rodney) Huffman of Benton, Mo.; three sons, Charles B. (Peggy) Jackson of Cape Girardeau, Brian K. (Khristy) Jackson of Millersville and Bruce A. Jackson of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, William F. (Joyce) Griffin of St. Charles, Mo., and Michael L. (Susan) Griffin of Delta; a sister-in-law, Susan A. Teichman of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, James David Jackson; a brother, John D. Griffin; and a sister, Margaret A. Fisher.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., Eagles Auxiliary service at 7:30 p.m., and VFW Auxiliary service at 7:45 p.m.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to Disabled American Veterans and the American Cancer Society.
