MCCLURE, Ill. -- Phoebe Jo Moore, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at her home in McClure.
She was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Brewer, Ark., to Clarence and Muriel Pettitt Jones. She and James Courtney Moore were married Dec. 24, 1952, in Piggot, Ark. He died March 16, 1994.
Phoebe received her nursing degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1978. She was a practical nurse at Saint Francis Medical Center from 1974 to 1976, and a registered nurse from 1978 to 1999. She then went to work for the Community Counseling Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was a member of East Cape Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include a son, James "Bob" (Jan) Moore and a grandson, James Stephen Moore, both of McClure; and sisters Beatrice Campbell of Gruetli-Laager, Tenn., Virginia Whitman of Altamont, Tenn., and Anna Sue Garrison of Marshall, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
