SIKESTON -- Phillip M. Yowell, 88, of Florissant, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 1996, at Delmar Garden North Nursing Home in Florissant.
He was born Jan. 12, 1908, at Goss, son of Henry Eddings and Sarah Elizabeth Woodson Yowell. He and Lillian Marie Ancell were married Aug. 23, 1931, in Sikeston. She died April 4, 1995.
Yowell received a degree in business administration from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and was a member of its marching band.
Formerly of Jennings, he was police commissioner there 25 years, was a charter member of its Lions Club, and active in Campfire Girls.
Yowell was office manager at the Chevrolet Parts Division in St. Louis 41 years, retiring in 1968. He was a member and ordained elder of Jennings United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert Yowell of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Karen Mayberry of St. Louis, Katherine Hunt of Plympton, Mass.; two grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Charles E. Buck officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday.
