ORAN -- Philip David Hirschowitz, 80, of Oran, Rt. 2, died Saturday, Nov. 23, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born in Oran on Aug. 18, 1911, to Max and Margaret Ellman Hirschowitz. On Jan. 5, 1963, he married Margaret L. Levine. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1990...

ORAN -- Philip David Hirschowitz, 80, of Oran, Rt. 2, died Saturday, Nov. 23, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born in Oran on Aug. 18, 1911, to Max and Margaret Ellman Hirschowitz.

On Jan. 5, 1963, he married Margaret L. Levine. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1990.

Survivors include two brothers, Louie Hirschowitz of Oran, and Abram Hirschowitz of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Anna Friedman of Clearwater, Fla.

An infant sister preceded him in death.

Hirschowitz lived and farmed in the Oran area for 40 years. He retired from farming 15 years ago.

Hirschowitz was a veteran of the Air Force, and a member of the Benton American Legion, the Morley Masonic Lodge 184, the St. Louis Scottish Rite, and the Morley Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 342.

He was a member of the B'Nai Israel Congregation in Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 2 p.m., Monday. Masonic rites will be held at the chapel at 7:30 p.m., Monday.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, with Louie Hirschowitz officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hills Memorial Garden Cemetery near Morley. Graveside military rites will be conducted by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5368, of Morley.
